WhoWhat?

Who is this person and what is this blog about?

Short answer:

I’m a guy in his late fifties who lives in Alaska. In a small, self-built cabin. Off the grid. Literally over the river and through the woods. This blog is about some of the more fun(?) and interesting aspects of this life. If you just said “Cool,” you might enjoy reading my stories and looking at my pictures. If you just said “Big Deal,” then maybe not.

Long answer:

Of course, the entire blog is the long answer, but some initial thoughts here…

All my life people who have read something I have written have said to me “This is really good, you should be a writer.” And in fact I have published a few (very few) things. But I never became a writer, not yet. Once, in a college writing class, one of my fellow students asked the professor “How do you know if you are a writer? “That’s easy,” he replied, “You write.” It’s like asking how you know if you are a breather. If writing is something you DO, then you are a writer. It could happen.

So why this blog?

Multiple reasons. The simplest one is that there are a number of people who find my lifestyle and my observations interesting, I enjoy sharing with them, and this is an efficient way to do it.

And, if enough people find this interesting, I can make money doing it – and that would be A Good Thing for me.

Also it’s fun.
